Summer 2026 · Kenya & Tanzania

Two weeks with the University of Dodoma and South Eastern Kenya University on engineering and Solar Water Farm projects in Dodoma, Tanzania and Mombasa, Kenya, then a trek to the Muryachakwe community in Kilifi County, Kenya, installing electricity at a health clinic and a primary school.

Solar Water Farm technology

Solar-powered desalination ranging from community plants producing 70,000+ liters per day to portable emergency units — off-grid, running on solar and battery. Models: Max, Mobi+, Mobi.

Kumar Lab

Membrane science & desalination

Dr. Kumar’s Cockrell lab develops biomimetic membranes inspired by aquaporins — higher flux at lower energy.

Infrastructure

Solar microgrids

Panels, lithium-ion banks, charge controllers, and inverters that bring reliable power to off-grid schools.
